Ordering, Delivery & Storage
What to expect
Buying genuinely fresh prawns is different to buying frozen prawns. This page explains how ordering, delivery, and storage works so you can buy with confidence.
Ordering
Our prawns are produced and harvested in small batches. When you place an order, you are buying into a real harvest schedule, not a warehouse stockpile.
If a product is listed as available, it is available. If it is not available we wait for the next harvest, rather than to compromise on freshness.
Delivery
Your order is packed for chilled delivery. We ship with temperature control, overnight, so your prawns arrive cold and in good condition.
Fresh prawns are time sensitive. When your order is dispatched, we recommend you plan to receive it promptly and refrigerate it as soon as possible.
When should you cook them
For the best experience, cook your prawns as soon as practical after delivery. At harvest they have a shelf-life of 7 days, we set a use by of 5 days to ensure perfect quality.
If you are ordering for an event or dinner party, the safest approach is to time your order so it arrives close to the day you plan to cook.
How to store your prawns
Keep your prawns refrigerated immediately on arrival.
- Store in the coldest part of your fridge
- Keep them sealed in their packaging until you are ready to use them
- Do not leave them at room temperature
Your prawns arrive cool packed, that is normal. But, they should still go straight into the fridge.
Can I freeze them
Yes. If you need to, you can freeze them at home, but understand what that means. Freezing will reduce quality compared to eating them fresh.
If you decide to freeze, do it as soon as possible after delivery so you lock in the best condition you will get.
What good looks like on arrival
Fresh prawns should smell clean and sea like, not strong or sour. The shells should look glossy and intact.
