What Makes our King Prawns Special?

King Prawns imported into the UK originate from places like Thailand, Indonesia, and South America. Where large-scale mangrove deforestation often makes room for outdoor ponds filled with harsh chemicals and antibiotics to combat diseases in the dirty water. The King Prawns we all eat in the UK are responsible for up to 1,600kg CO2e for every 1kg produced. On top of that they travel up to 7,200 food miles to reach your plate. Due to the distance, they must be frozen and can be months old when you purchase them. The King Prawns are also treated with sulphite preservatives which many people are allergic to. Shocking, right??

As a company we set out to prove that this was not the only way to produce what is the most popular seafood on the planet. After many years of trial and error we now have a proven solution to grow King Prawns in Scotland, without the use of antibiotics, sulphites, harmful chemicals or the need to destroy mangrove forests. Not only are our King Prawns better for you, but they are also better for the planet.

How are they Different?

Defrosted? Never, our prawns are fresh and have never been frozen.

Fish, cereals, gluten, milk, mustard, soya? Nope again, we sell prawns that contain... prawns.

Farmed in India, Thailand, and Vietnam? Not a chance.
Our prawns are farmed right here in Scotland. Fully traceable down to the tank, not just a selection of faraway countries.

150g e

The rules allow a 250g pack to contain 230 g of prawns. We don't average; we just add another prawn. We never add water (5% is allowed without putting it on the label).
